Iconic eyewear maker Carrera have been producing their auto-racing inspired designs since 1956. Austrian founder Wilhelm Anger named his brand after what was widely considered the world’s most dangerous race, the Carrera Panamericana. The event was held on open roads in Mexico and lasted for just five years between 1950 and 1954, however its legacy lives on, influencing Porsche’s Carrera models, the design of Mercedes-AMG vehicles and TAG Heuer watches, in addition to Anger’s eyewear. A pair of Carrera’s completed Al Pacino’s mob boss look in ‘Scarface’, and Chris Hemsworth’s character proudly shows them off in the F1 biopic ‘Rush’.
